Meet The Director

I am Mary Kate Corbyons. I have been a member of New Horizon UMC since I was about 5 years old when we moved to Cooper City. I graduated from FIU with a degree in Psychology and a minor in Religion. I went on to work as a Youth Director at another church. I married my husband Rick and now we have 2 awesome boys named Eli and Jack. After Jack was born, I decided to stay home for a little bit. During that time, I started volunteering with VBS here at New Horizon (actually some of you might know me from that…. I was the one bouncing around to the music up in front!). At that time the director of the Learning Center approached me and asked if I would like to work in a classroom that they had an opening in… And that is when my heart started to belong to Red Door. I continued working here (with both of my boys going through the program!) till last spring when COVID happened. While we were working from home (watching our babies grow through the computer was HARD!) I decided to take my Directors Credentials course. It was a total God thing that I have ended up here where I am, leading our school.
